Centro de Investigaciones Históricas de los Movimientos Sociales (CIHMSAC) was established in May 2006 with the effort of activists, social science researchers, and individuals to write history and preserve the past for a present that supports coexistence and individuality.

The Center is committed to strengthening a culture that promotes respect for human rights and tolerance of different ways of thinking to help contemporary Mexico move away from distorted historical interpretations in an official capacity.
