The Committee for Human Rights: NIDO 20 is dedicated to preserving the memory of the extensive human rights violations that took place during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1990. The Committee is located in a former clandestine detention center, NIDO 20, that was used to transport, torture, and execute political opponents.
The Committee for Human Rights has turned NIDO 20 into both a museum and a community center, in which the public can hold and take part in social and cultural activities. The Committee uses the history of the site to educate the public about state terror, in the hope that future generations will not let it happen again.
