Rose Hill Manor, built in the 1790s by John and Anne Grahame and renamed by Gov. Thomas Johnson in 1778, is a place where history comes to life. The Children’s Museum of Rose Hill Manor, opened in 1972, allows children to immerse themselves in early American life, from carding wool to grating spices and playing with historical toys, while exploring Frederick County’s agricultural and transportation history.
Their mission is to preserve and present the property’s living heritage from 1746-1950, fostering an understanding of our collective past and its impact on the present. By engaging with diverse historical experiences, visitors gain a deeper appreciation of the complex narratives that have shaped our community. Through interactive exhibits and educational programs, we strive to create a space for reflection and dialogue, connecting the past with contemporary issues and inspiring future generations.
