In the 1930s and 40s, Elmore Bolling used his ingenuity and entrepreneurial skills to lift up the Black community in Lowndes County, Alabama with good paying jobs and generous philanthropy. When whites who were enraged by Bolling’s success lynched him, their crime was covered up and justice was never served. With Elmore Bolling as our inspiration, our vision is to lift the people of Lowndes County, and the entire Alabama Black Belt region, out of poverty with opportunities for educational, economic and cultural advancement and to reverse the erasure of the history of Black people’s achievements and the atrocities committed against them in the name of White Supremacy.
