LUME: Lugar de Memória (LUME: Place of Memory), serves as a space for community engagement, using its platform to foster social transformation and justice. Created in response to the 2017 recommendations of the State Truth Commission of Paraná – Teresa Urban, LUME memorializes the repression and resistance during Brazil’s military dictatorship (1964-1985). Located within the Judicial Center of Curitiba, it provides a venue for reflection on this challenging past through exhibitions, debates, and exchanges. By addressing sensitive memories of torture, trauma, and fear, LUME aims to educate the public about human rights, democracy, and the importance of historical memory. This dedication to confronting difficult histories invites dialogue, understanding, and collective healing, allowing the space to become a bridge between memory and active engagement with contemporary social issues.
