The Atlanta History Center, through its collections, programs and exhibitions, preserves and interprets subjects about the city and the region to Atlanta’s diverse audiences. The institution’s mission is to connect people to their history, culture and communities, often through difficult subjects, including removal and displacement, genocide, enslavement, segregation and violence.
The Center believes that these events leave wounds and fractures within our society that can only be healed by unearthing and clearly presenting the true facts. Recognizing the need to remain relevant to all visitors, the Atlanta History Center seeks to transform the visitor experience for all ages and tell a more complete history inclusive of previously unheard voices that reflect the diversity of the past, present and future.
