Written in 2018 by Astrid Jamar and Christine Bell at the University of Edinburgh with support from UN Women, this report demonstrates how transitional justice mechanisms can respond to the gendered consequences of violence. While integrating gender perspectives in peace agreements not only benefits women, it also helps diversify perspectives and proposed solutions, thereby contributing more generally to progress in peace processes for all. This paper uses quantitative and qualitative data from peace agreements from across the world as evidence and inspiration for action.
