Afghanistan Forensic Science Organization (AFSO) is a not-for-profit organization working in exile with a small project team in Afghanistan. AFSO’s identity in Afghanistan is that of a local civil society organization. It is fully Afghan-run and well-connected to Afghan civil society organizations. AFSO addresses human rights violations in Afghanistan with a focus on torture, extrajudicial killings, and mass graves. AFSO, with its more than a decade of history and achievements, its impact in introducing forensic science to Afghanistan, and its connections at the local level and with international actors, has established itself as a prominent forensic science organization in Afghanistan.
