Museo Casa de la Memoria Indómita (MuCMI) opened its doors on June 14, 2012, serving as a vital space for preserving the memory of State Terrorism during Mexico’s “Dirty War.” The museum highlights the work of the Comité Pro-Defensa de Presos, Perseguidos, Desaparecidos y Exiliados Políticos de México Eureka!, a group founded in 1977 by relatives of the detained-disappeared. The organization’s efforts have led to the recovery of 148 individuals held in clandestine prisons. The mission of the MuCMI is to continue exposing the ongoing crime of forced disappearance and to keep alive the demands of Las Doñas. Through exhibitions of testimonial and legal documentation from the 1960s, the museum aims to preserve and share the stories of the struggle for justice and truth. It promotes a culture of human rights, using artistic and cultural resources to raise awareness among the Mexican public about the urgent need to end torture and enforced disappearances.
