Centro Cultural and Museo y Memoria de Neltume has 16 years of experience with their local community in Panguipulli, Chile. Its mission is to be an open space for the development of social, pedagogical, artistic and outreach work. The museum is associated with the field of memory, human rights and patrimonial rescue as it examines the history of the territory from its origins to the present.
Emphasizing the industrialization process, which occurred through the exploitation of the native forest, labor struggle and organization, the museum brings back the history of the area to present-day and reflects on issues such as human rights violations that have been seen across time.
With the creation of the Forest Complex and Maderero Panguipulli, there have been various episodes of violation of human rights during the dictatorship as well as armed resistance and privatization of the territory. It also has a cultural infrastructure in which the community library is located, which was built in 2013 through donations and contributions from all over Chile, and also with rooms for workshops and different activities.
