Youth Initiative for Human Rights – Kosovo (YIHR KS) was established in 2004. For more than eighteen (18) years, YIHR KS has worked successfully to protect and promote human rights and democratic values not only in Kosovo but also in the region. The work of YIHR KS is structured in three programs: Human Rights and the Rule of Law, Dealing with the Past, and Youth Empowerment Program.
By promoting, protecting and advocating for human rights, dealing with the past processes, the rule of law and civic values, YIHR KS strives for a free, equal and just society. A very important branch of the work of YIHR KS is enhancing collective memory regarding the war in Kosovo. Two very important memory initiatives are the Virtual Museum of Refugees and the establishment of the Children of War Museum. YIHR KS approach in these important initiatives is inclusive of all non-majority communities in Kosovo, as well as in line with the “do no harm” principles.
